A Stitch in Time (2022)

Directed by Sasha Hadden, this heartfelt Australian drama follows Liebe, an 80-year-old retired dressmaker who finds new life and purpose after leaving an abusive relationship. Her journey is reignited through an unexpected friendship with a young Chinese fashion designer.

My musings:
I watched this amidst tears - it’s a deeply moving film filled with raw, quiet truths. It made me wonder: am I too young or too old to say this? Probably neither; it’s a powerful reminder - heartbreaking at times - that it’s never too late to pursue your goals.

I don’t want to spoil it for you (I’m not a fan of spoilers!), so I’ll just say this:

Three more reasons to watch this film:

  1. A rare portrayal of older women as the heroine. Liebe's journey is a breath of fresh air in a youth-obsessed media landscape. Her resilience, transformation, and quiet rebellion are inspiring.

  2. Intergenerational connection. The friendship between Liebe and the young fashion designer bridges cultural and generational divides with authenticity.

  3. Subtle storytelling. No over-the-top dramatics - just honest, human moments. The kind that sneak up on you and stay with you.

If you love stories about second chances, quiet strength, and the courage to reclaim your life, this is one to watch. Let me know what you think of it!
